Emily visits the Hospital!

Emily scared her mama Thursday night, and after I ended up staying up the majority of the night monitoring her breathing, we headed back to the doctor Friday morning to see what was going on. Come to find out, my suspicions were correct, and Emily had RSV but had also developed along with it, bronchiolitis and a double ear infection  Her oxygen saturations were pretty low at 89% and despite having two albuterol jet neb treatments in the office, they only improved slightly to 91%.  She was so lethargic and unlike herself.  Her oxygen saturations bought us an overnight stay in the hospital for monitoring.  I was actually thankful to be there since I had debated all night on Thursday about taking her to the ER.  They think that the combination of the ear infections and bronchiolitis put her little body into overload and she couldn't handle it all!  Two shots of Rocephin antibiotic (yes, two...) later and an albuterol inhaler, we are back home.  She ran a fever Tuesday through Friday, but thankfully, has not had another one since coming home yesterday.  Since this is Emily's 5th ear infection, our next stop is ear tubes!  Looks like our time at MCG hospital is not over yet!  They are going to wait until her lungs heal before we consult with a wonderful ENT physician.  Keep sweet girl in your prayers that she has a few healthy months ahead of her!

As for an update on our house situation, we are still "homeless" for now and waiting on them to level on floors so they can begin laying down the new ones.  Thank GOD for my parents who have helped us with our house and with taking care of our sick daughter!  When it rains, it pours!  Hopefully this storm is on its way out!

What a week...

After all 3 of us recovered from the stomach flu, I came home last Wednesday night from work and discovered water seeping up from in-between my hardwood floors. Not a fun thing to find period, but especially not fun after having worked a 12 hour shift! Unbeknownst to us, we'd had a slow leak in our water line leading to our refrigerator and in the water filter which had finally leaked enough to cause havoc to my house! Our fridge is against the wall that runs along our back hallway, and the water damaged the floors in the kitchen, hallway, and even went into the carpet in the guest bedroom. Thankfully, Em's room was spared. Stephen spent until 3am sucking water out of the floors with a wet/dry vacuum, but they were still moist and buckled the next day. We talked to our insurance agency the next day, and thankfully, it's covered! (after we pay the deductible of course) That next day, they drilled holes into the bottom of my cabinets, placed dryers along the floors and cabinet bases, and put two heated humidifiers in the area. Our house was 94 degrees- no joke. The stuff in our pantry that could melt, did. Yesterday, they came and packed up everything that touches hardwood floors (which is the majority of my house) and ripped out my hardwood. Thank goodness we have a free place to stay at my parent's house because a hotel room WOULD not be fun with a 9month old baby. I'm not sure how long this process is going to take. Ironically enough, I had JUST cleaned my house and mopped/shined the hardwood floors before all of this occurred. Now my house is a disaster zone with half of it packed into boxes!
Dryers and Humidifiers everywhere...

All my floors GONE!

On top of all of this, sweet baby girl has developed a terrible cough and is running a fever- Can anyone say RSV season? Poor baby.  Took her to the doctor today and now she is on prednisone and an albuterol inhaler for a viral infection.  Last night was awful so I hope this remedy works!

Nine Month Pictures

Since I neglected to post them in her 9 month update, here a a few pictures from the past month. Also- she was in the 50th percentile for height and weight! I guess all that crawling has slowed down her growth a little bit! 19lbs 2 oz and 27 inches long!

Mr. and Mrs. Turner...

Loving on the Bride at the Luncheon

My baby sister, Marie, is officially a married woman!  She was of course a GORGEOUS bride.  The weekend was wonderful, and she and Trevor were able to fly out Sunday morning before the snow and ice hit!  Despite the wonderful weekend, our sweet baby girl, Emily, decided to spread around the stomach virus to everyone she loves.  This marks my 3rd stomach bug in 7 months!  Stephen and I were both sick last night and only enjoyed the snowy view from our window.  Thankfully, Emily's stomach virus had already run its course and between the two of us, we were able to care for her.  Please say a prayer though for my nephew (he and Emily "kissed" quite a few times) and my baby sister who is, yes, sick on her honeymoon!  Below are a few pictures of the beautiful bride and of course, the prettiest baby girl in the World!!!

Nine Months

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Nine Months Miss Em!  Wow... Nine months old.  I think this is the point where I'm supposed to have lost all of my lingering pregnancy weight, right?  :)
Anyways, we will start with Miss Em's first Christmas!  We were brave and took Emily to church at the 11pm candlelight service on Christmas eve night.  Having worked the past two years on Christmas eve, I was SO excited to attend this service.  Emily did AWESOME and fell asleep around 20 minutes into the service.  The service itself had changed from previous years, but I still got teary eyed when singing Silent Night with the candles lit.  I do believe God enjoys us shining His light for the World to see, and that service always sets my heart in the true Spirit of Christmas.  Emily wore a dress my Grandma had made 25 years ago... when my baby sister Marie had worn it for her very first Christmas (pictures below!).  Christmas morning, we discovered Santa had visited the Poole house and left Emily a house to crawl through and play with!  She also got a babydoll, from us, under the tree with whom she tried to share her toys with.  From there, we traveled to Spartanburg and had a wonderful time with Stephen's family and later on, Stephen's extended family.  I really love spending time with all them since my extended family is SO tiny.  Emily received her favorite gift from her Aunt Ali- a stuffed pillow pet dog.  She LOVES it.  She constantly kisses it and pets it.  The next day... we headed back to Aiken IN the snow (Yes, we had a true "White Christmas" in Spartanburg), and spent that day with my sisters and family.  It was so much fun to see Chad and Emily play together.

Well that is a very SHORT summary of Emily's first Christmas.  Here are her 9 month accomplishments!
  • CRAWLING everywhere, pulling up, trying to walk, and pushes her toys across the room with a kind of crawl/sit/walk
  • Has 2 teeth, both on the bottom!
  • Weighs 19 lbs at her last check up... which was also for her fourth ear infection
  • Sleeps in her crib all night unless she is feeling ill or teething
  • Likes to rock and read books before going to bed (actually likes for you to just let her open and close the book repeatedly)
  • Says bah, dada, MAMA, and "Daah" which stands for dog.  Every animal is a dog, and I am considering this as her first real word since she actually comprehends it!  Emily looovvveeeees Ace.
  • Eats baby food like its going out of style, but will ONLY eat her favorites which are...
    • Pears, Sweet Potatoes, Squash, Bananas, Carrots, and BABY YOGURT (her fave)
      • However, me being the good mom that I am, Em has also tried ice cream amongst other grown up food items... :)
Because she is such an active and MOBILE little girl, Emily will be "graduating" on Monday to the next class at her school.  It is so hard to believe she is growing up so, so fast.  We are enjoying every second of it!!  Nine month check up will be later this week... hopefully we will be clear of ear infections!   Don't have time to upload pictures now, but I will post a bunch of them soon!
