Another year in the books, and what a year it was... I think more trials occurred in my life this past year than any other year so far. That being said, I have MUCH to be thankful for during this past year of my life and my family's life. 2014 was quite the adventure and I have grown as a nurse, a mom, and a wife. I honestly pray that 2015 brings a lot of HEALTH to my Matty Boo. Since early January 2014, he has not had a break as far as illnesses go (as evidenced by my blog postings), and his little body has been stuck an estimated 30 to 40 times this past year or more, if you count the unsuccessful attempts as well. I am ready for this chapter to close! Time will tell and hopefully we will get him figured out! Two great things to report: 1. Looks like Cancer is NOT the answer!!! 2. His IgG level has climbed tremendously on its own and is now greater than 500! This is amazing and means his immune system is kicking into gear and working! Our next steps will be to either find the source of the periodic fevers and/or treat him for periodic fever syndrome (PFAPA), and to make this little guy gain some weight! From "Honey Boo Boo" cheeks Emily when she was this age to scrawny leg Matt, I am beside myself trying to plump this kiddo up. Peidasure, crackers at 11pm, cookies all day long- whatever he wants! At his last appointment, it showed a weight gain of 0.4kg. Not very much and it may have had something to do with the amount of clothes I had dressed him in, but at least it was a gain! We will be eating our collards and black eyed peas today to ring in the new year and hopefully bring us some money and luck!
